Curriculum Statement for PE at St. Wilfrid's CofE Primary School

Intent:
At St Wilfrid's CofE Primary School, our primary aim in Physical Education is to foster a strong foundation of healthy competition, teamwork, and physical competences in our students alongside the requirements of the National Curriculum in England. Our intent is to foster a love for physical education through our three-pronged approach: discover, explore, create. We believe in the holistic development of our students, nurturing their physical and mental well-being through carefully planned PE lessons.

Implementation:
To realise our intent, we will be implementing the Twinkl Move It scheme, which aligns with our core values of promoting healthy competition, teamwork, and physical competence. This scheme is designed to engage and inspire our students, encouraging them to be active participants in their own physical development. The students will have two PE lessons a week, where they will work on various skills and activities that not only promote physical health but also foster teamwork and cooperation among peers.

Impact:
The impact of our Physical Education teaching will be measured through regular assessments, participation in competitions, and involvement in sports festivals. Through these assessments, we aim to track the progress of each student, ensuring they are meeting their physical development milestones. Competitions and festivals will provide opportunities for students to showcase their skills, work as a team, and learn the value of sportsmanship and healthy competition.

At St Wilfrid's CofE Primary School, we are dedicated to providing our students with a well-rounded PE curriculum that not only meets the requirements of the National Curriculum but also instils in them a lifelong passion for physical activity, teamwork, and healthy competition.
