Our School and Ethos

St Wilfrid’s Church of England Primary School was established in 1857 and moved to our present site in 1951. The school has a Christian ethos and welcomes those of all faiths and none, promoting the academic, emotional, social and physical development of every individual child in its care. We have a fabulous school site which enables us to provide a stimulating environment and a broad and balanced curriculum.

Ethos statement

Recognising its historic foundation, St Wilfrid’s will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with our town parishes and the diocese of Chichester.

The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.
