Meet Our Governors

Meet our Governors

St Wilfrid’s has a Governing Body of 14 governors, consisting of a mix of:

  • The Headteacher

  • 8 Foundation governors – appointed by the Diocese of Chichester, representing the parish churches.

  • 2 Parent governors – elected by the parents and carers of pupils at the school.

  • 1 Staff governor – elected by the staff.

  • 1 Co-opted governor – appointed by the governing body.

  • 1 Local Authority governor – appointed by West Sussex County Council.

Term of Office: Upon election to the governing body, a governor will serve a 4-year term of office. After this period, the governor can chose to stand for re-election or re-appointment.  The Headteacher and Ex-Officio Foundation governor are not bound by a term of office and therefore are appointed until such time that they chose to resign.

There are also Associate governors appointed by the governing body for their specific skills as and when needed.

Staff Governors

There is one governor from the staff, they can be from teaching or support staff. They are a conduit between the staff and the Governing Body. Staff governors are elected by staff members. The Headteacher can choose to be a governor or not; Mr Hateley has chosen to be a governor.
